Los Angeles County Gymnasiums

Initially defined as a series of three identical 9500 sf buildings to be located on three different sites throughout the County Parks and Recreation system, this project included a Gymnasium sized for High School level basketball / volleyball, with provisions for a main court and two half size practice courts; it also included a lobby, public restrooms, an equipment storage room, and utility rooms. Because the scope and character of site work differed at all three sites (including a leach field and a remodel with new addition to an existing community building at the Little Rock site), costs were anticipated to vary between $1.5 and $2.5 million each.

This original gymnasium design, due to its adaptability and compliance with Owner requirements for both the LA County and the LA City departments of parks and recreation, was used at both the LA City Delano Park Gymnasium and the LA City Washington Park Gymnasium.

The Pamela Park Gymnasium was awarded a Commendation for Architectural Excellence by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
